Making Money From YouTube and Blogging
As I was talking about before, I think there’s a lot of incentives, not just for YouTube content creators to think about those topics. I believe there are reasons behind how they make money, and I’m going to go over each one. Let’s start off with the most obvious one.
Top selling individuals and teams on YouTube make money by making their videos widely known. Sure, some YouTube channel creators will just do their content and hope to make money, but not all. If you don’t know anything about this, it’s because you’re not a YouTube creator! (Everyone make money and they do it. I’m not sharing any startups or websites. Find your channel and follow the trends instead).
Unlimited revenue… just like a YouTube user’s allowance to watch videos, it can also be purchased in iTunes. You’re allowed to make your videos available to other people, but it’s up to YouTube to decide when that monetization happens.
YouTube monetizes content from users whose videos are longer than 30 seconds, because there’s the demand for this content. There’s also the interest and awareness of consumers for longer videos on YouTube. They can charge advertisers higher prices, which means they’ll generate more revenue.
And finally, video editors earn money by charging viewers to watch their videos. People often ask me “Why would anybody watch such type of short videos?” They’re like Munch on their wrists because some people of them are really funny, but others some aren’t funny, even if you’re a die hard YouTube viewer. You have to click through and watch everything that is there to see a part of your favorite piece of content. The sweet thing about this type of monetization is that YouTube authors will earn money from watch-and-replay views as well.
I’ve mentioned all of these before, but the opportunity to earn money and share ideas with other users was really interesting. This has made me want to talk about writing on YouTube and doing podcasts like this.
With blogs, there’s different types of promotion. You have your readers, which include people you have never met before. There are also people who will follow your work (almost a “real life influencer”), and then there are “fake” or people who can sit at home and talk about their experiences for no reason. There are multiple types of people, and I hope they are on a bit of an excursion somewhere besides YouTube or Twitter, since I’m not talking about illegal activity.
I hope that we’ve sparked some interest for this topic, because I love the idea of people sharing their ideas, and from there, I’m hoping more people will do it in the way I have.
